Search for Tina looks 'grim'

NEARLY three months on, police are still working to unlock the mystery of what happened to Tina Greer.

With the last confirmed sighting of the 32-year-old mother on January 18, those in charge of the investigation admit that the prospect of finding her alive is growing more grim with each day.

Despite this, police are still treating Ms Greer as a missing person case - rather than a murder - with further land searches possible in the coming weeks.

Ipswich Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Gary Dixon said police were still holding out some hope of finding Ms Greer alive.

"At this stage she's still listed as a missing person," he said.

"As time goes on, however, things become grim. It has been almost three months now."

A massive amount of time and resources have already been spent in the hope of solving the mystery.

In January and early February, police used cadaver dogs, horses and helicopters to aid in a search of a vast area of mountainous bushland between Spicer's Peak and Moogerah Dam.

The SES and police recruits also assisted.

By mid February, the search extended to the dam itself, with police using sonar technology to locate a body on the bottom of the water storage, which is about 20km south-west of Boonah.

The search turned up nothing.

This means police are still unable to explain how Ms Greer's vehicle ended up at the car park near the Governor's Chair lookout, off Spicer's Gap Rd.

The maroon Commodore was found locked and with Ms Greer's personal belongings inside on January 22.

Ms Greer lived at Beechmont but was known to have a boyfriend with a property in the Fassifern area.

Police have searched the property and questioned the man, who is a member of the Finks motorcycle club.

Anyone with information that could assist investigations into Ms Greer's disappearance should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
