Sean Yates quits cycling

THE man who guided Bradley Wiggins to last year's Tour de France win has quit.

But Sean Yates says his decision is not linked to the Lance Armstrong drugs scandal.

Yates, a former British champion who rode with a young Armstrong in the Motorola team during the early 1990s, has quit as Team Sky sporting director.

Yates said: "I realise the timing of my retirement will lead to speculation, but I can walk away with my head high knowing I have done nothing wrong."
