Scouts in-tents Doughraiser

STANTHORPE Scouts celebrated getting a 'pizza' the action with their new tents last week.

A Doughraiser held by Dominos saw $1 of every pizza sold on Wednesday in July donated to the Scouts.

The effort raised $1500 with Rotary contributing $1000 and Lions and the Stanthorpe Garden Club each gave $500.

Group leader Ann Richardson said the old tents were already old and well-used when they were ripped apart by a freak storm at a camp in Clifton earlier in the year.

The troop had managed to put a few tents together from parts to get through the camps 'but we can't keep doing that'.

When Domino's franchisee Jeremy heard of the Scouts' dilemma, he suggested getting the community involved using the Doughraiser.

The troop includes fifty scouts, ranging in age from five to 18 and they all contributed by standing outside the story and waving a wiggle board, filling the drinks fridge, taking the pizza to customers' cars and saying thank you to the customers.

Ms Richardson said the Scouts were in place to assist every Wednesday throughout July.

"I couldn't have been prouder of our Scouts,” she said. "They were helpful, enthusiastic and learnt lots”.

"They had such a good time.”
