School year starts off swimmingly

A big welcome back to all our returning families and a very warm welcome to the new families who have joined us here at Texas P-10 State School.

The first day was one with many smiles and a few tears, mostly from our Prep parents, and judging from the smiles that walked out the front gate in the afternoon, it was a great day of learning.

We would like to welcome two new staff members to Texas - Miss Chanara Gettons who will be teaching Science and Maths in the secondary school and Miss Alannah Coonan who has come to fill the District Relief Teacher role at Texas.

I am sure both ladies will enjoy their time at Texas.

We have started our first week back at school with our Interhouse Swimming Carnival.

Congratulations to all the swimmers who competed.

A small margin of 121 points separated our two houses Burilda and Coolac.

With Coolac coming home with the win!

Swimmers were extremely enthusiastic and displayed outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day.

A number of swimmers created new personal bests and records.

Congratulations to all our swimmers, age champions and record breakers, some of which will be attending Mac Zone swimming in Goondiwindi and Border District swimming in Stanthorpe.
