Rugged farm tests

FARMING fanatics from across the region converged on the Stanthorpe Showgrounds for the 2013 Team Penning and Campdrafting Weekend.

The two-day event featured a variety of challenges to test entrants' agricultural aptitude.

Winners of the general competition were Keith Thorne, Brian and Terry Hopgood, who each took home $100.

An ever-popular feature of the weekend is the Keith Thorne Building Farmer's Challenge.

This has competitors complete tasks typical of a day on the farm.

Harry Williams, Kylie Collins and Simon Gasparin took out the title this year.

Another highlight of the event was the much- anticipated opening of the new rodeo yards.

This provided an excellent start to an entertaining weekend.

The crowds enjoyed a day of competition on Saturday before kicking up their heels to entertainment in the evening.

Sunday provided a chance for new and experienced campdrafters to hone their skills in the ring, ahead of upcoming competitions.
