Round and round we go: No end date for project

WORKS on the roundabout at the southern end of Stanthorpe will go into an 11th month with no completion date yet confirmed.

With lanes still cut and traffic stops ongoing, a Transport and Main Roads spokesperson would only say construction was "nearing completion”.

"Roundabout works at the New England Highway and Stanthorpe Connection Road intersection are nearing completion,” the TMR spokesperson said.

"Safety is our top priority, including the safety of road workers and motorists driving through works.

"These safety upgrades will reduce fatal and serious injury crashes.

"We urge motorists to drive to conditions, follow signs and obey instructions from traffic controllers during the remaining works.

"We thank motorists for their patience while we deliver these important works and apologise for any inconvenience they may cause,” the TMR spokesperson said.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey announced a $5.4million commitment to the build in April last year.
