Rodeo royalty rides into town

AS Australia's most famous rodeo – our very own Warwick Rodeo – approaches, Miss Rodeo Canada, Britteny Foster, made time on her busy Down Under tour to appear at the Warwick Showgrounds yesterday.

The former 2007 Miss Manning Rodeo and 2008 Miss Grande Prairie Stampede said all her dreams came true when she was crowned Miss Rodeo Canada in November last year.

“My goal as Rodeo Queen has been to promote and educate as many people as possible about rodeos,” Ms Foster said.

“It has been a very busy year, a lot of travelling and long days, but I have enjoyed every moment of it and have met some wonderful people.”

Current Miss Warwick Rodeo Junior Cowgirl Monique Dwan and Rodeo Princess runner-up Meg Stewart considered themselves fortunate to have the opportunity to meet Miss Foster on Sunday.

Miss Stewart said it was an amazing experience and probably one of the highlights during her reign.

“She was totally amazing and gorgeous, yet at the same time very natural,” she said.

Following her brief visit to the Rose and Rodeo city Miss Foster headed off to the Gold Coast to attend the National Council of Australia Rodeo Queen Quest.

Warwick Rodeo Queen co-ordinatorTania Weier said she is attending the Australian Rodeo Queen Quest next weekend and is taking Miss Warwick Rodeo Queen runner-up Louise Wilson with her.

“It's a great experience for the girls to see the bigger picture,” she said.

Mrs Weier said the 2010 Rodeo Queen Quest is shaping up to be a winner again this year.

“I would like to encourage anyone who is interested to participate.”

Judging takes place Saturday, October 16, with the Queen crowned at the ball that night. Anyone interested in entering can contact Tania Weier on 0448 641 472 or the Warwick Show and Rodeo Society
