Woman in hospital after hit and run motorbike crash
A MOTORBIKE smash on Goodwood Rd has left a 25-year-old woman in hospital and police are investigating it as a hit and run.
Bundaberg Senior Constable Terry Collins said the smash, near Alloway Country Club, was reported to police about 11am yesterday.
"It appears a car's pulled out to overtake another car," Snr Const Collins said.
He said the rider - whose bike displayed L-plates - swerved to avoid being hit head-on by a white Hyundai.
"She's taken evasive action - she's gone off the road and on to the grass," he said.
Snr Const Collins said the bike continued off the road a few hundred metres before the woman control and overturned before stopping.
The woman was riding as part of a group.
"One of her friends contacted 000," he said.
Snr Const Collins said the smash was being treated as a hit and run because if the rider hadn't used evasive action "then there more than likely would have been a collision."
"And the other vehicle didn't stop, so it's being investigated as (a hit and run)," he said.
"Whether or not that will be the outcome of the investigation is yet to be seen."
Snr Const Collins said police had the registration number of the Hyundai.
"We're making inquiries to track that person down," he said.
