Rickard leads bowls team to win

A WARWICK Bowls Club team led by Jim Rickard won all three rounds and was first overall in the Southern Cross Open Carnival on Sunday.

Southern Cross men’s section secretary Tom Nolan said the club was happy 14 teams from eight clubs nominated.

“The open carnival is one of two we host each year,” Nolan said.

Warwick Credit Union and Hope’s Body Repairs were the major sponsors.

The Killarney club nominated two teams and both finished among the five prize winners.

Terry Banditt was skip of the Killarney team which was runner-up. Nick Farmer led a Killarney team to victory in round one.

Doug Christensen was skip of the round two-winning Allora.

Round three was won by a Southern Cross team led by Ron Vidler. He was joined by fellow Southern Cross bowler Slave Horne and Warwick East pair Greg and Barb Cross.
