Residents voice opposition to proposed Kingaroy mine

MORE than 900 South Burnett residents have shown solidarity against a coal mine proposed outside Kingaroy.

The Kingaroy Town Hall meeting, organised by the Kingaroy Concerned Citizens Group, highlighted potential health and environmental issues the proposal could bring to the town and the surrounding region.

Moreton Resources CEO Jason Elks attended the public meeting and addressed the crowd on potential benefits the mine could bring.

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann strongly voiced his opposition to the mine in an impassioned speech.
