Redbacks to battle against Cougars

THE Redbacks will go into battle against University Cougars at Davis Oval in Baker Street at USQ on Saturday.

This battle of two Australian Rules football teams really does pale in insignificance in comparison to the huge battle being fought by millions of people around the world suffering cancer.

In 2009, the Cougars started off a charity appeal game against Coolaroo.

USQ raised money with sponsored Guernseys, raffles and game proceeds going to this charitable cause.

The Redbacks have the honour of playing in this event for 2010 and are assisting in the fundraising by having a special guernsey made and kindly sponsored by Steele's Bakery.

These coveted pieces of sporting apparel will be auctioned at the Reddies red carpet awards and presentation night to be held at the Douglas Feez Pavilion at Warwick Showgrounds on September 18.

All proceeds will be passed on to the cancer appeal.

Being involved in something that can in some small way help out the many men, women and children that are suffering from such an horrific debilitation illness really does make for a humbling experience for all participants involved.

Keeping this in mind, if there are any supporters that would be interested in making the trip to Toowoomba for a great day and a good cause there will be plenty of cars leaving from Slade Park on Saturday morning after the Redbacks U8 and U10 games.

Call Colin Pope on 4664 8555.

The Redbacks could use your support.
