Records tumble in the pool

MORE than 20 records were broken at the recent Clifton State Primary School annual swimming carnival, with nine-year-old Lucy Mantova breaking all eight records for her age group.

A Year 4 student, Lucy now holds all the six, seven, eight and nine-year-old girls swimming records except one at the school - a total of 29 out of the possible 62 girls' swimming records.

Her most impressive result was in the 25m freestyle, where she recorded a time of 17.12 seconds, which also broke the current 10 and 11-year-old records.

Year 6 student Taliesha Leslie was also successful in breaking five 11-year-old girls records in her first year at the school.

Sibley won the carnival with 666 points, with King on 485 points.
