Rain and possible hail could be on its way
SATURDAY delivered the most rainfall seen in Stanthorpe in well over a year.
More than 46 millimetres has fallen in town since last Friday afternoon, with Tuesday afternoon’s torrential down pour only delivering 8mm of it.
But it was enough for some residents to enjoy a rain bath, as tanks welcomed that little more.
“We had a few storms come through the Border Ranges. That was in response to an upper feature bringing some instability,” Jess Gardner from the Bureau of Meteorology said.
“We have the chance of some more showers and storms tomorrow afternoon (Thursday) triggered by a surface trough that’s moving through the southern parts of Queensland.
“With those there’s a chance of severe storms. The main hazard would be damaging wind gusts but there is a chance of seeing large hail,” she said.
