Probation for drug charges

A WARWICK man who police found in possession of 144g of marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia has been placed on 18 months probation.

Mitchell Keith Deegan fronted Warwick Magistrates Court this week, where it was heard a search of his Warwick residence on February 18 uncovered the drugs, a grinder, cone piece, water pipe and digital scales.

Police prosecutor Steve de Lissa said yesterday Deegan made full admissions to owning the property at the time of the search.

The court heard Deegan had a history of similar offending.

The 29-year-old was sentenced to 18 months probation, with extra conditions.

A probation and parole officer yesterday said Deegan had a "significant drug use issue" and it was ordered that conditions of his probation require him to submit to regular drug tests.
