PoliceLink takes pressure off 000
WITH calls about loud parties, terrible drivers and even how to cook a roast, triple-0 has been overwhelmed, but now a new non-urgent PoliceLink number 131444 is ready for use.
Warwick Police Senior Constable Michael Hauff said there were a lot of calls coming through the emergency triple-0 line that weren't urgent.
“Loud music and vehicles overtaking incorrectly complaints should be used for the new PoliceLink number,” Snr Const Hauff said.
“It is a good way to free up triple-0 and people can still get a response from police in relation to what their query is. We still accept calls at the police station, but if you don't know it you can call PoliceLink.”
Police Minister Neil Roberts said the national number was for non-urgent matters that were non-threatening crimes.
However, if someone is ever in doubt about the situation, still call triple-0.
