Armed man causes lock down of Caboolture schools
UPDATE 2.50pm: Police are currently searching for a man following a break and enter in Caboolture this morning. Initial investigations suggests at 10.30aqm, a man entered a Cardinal Circuit residence and stole a machete.
Police notified neighbouring educational facilities as a matter of precaution.
At 12.06pm, a man of similar appearance was sighted at the back of a Henzell Road premises in Caboolture.
The dog squad and POLAIR 2 we involved in the search.
Police media advise the public not to approach the man carrying a machete and if sighted to contact police immediately.
UPDATE 2.15pm: Police have confirmed police are searching for a Caucasian male after a break-in at Cardinal Crt about 10.30am this morning.
Three schools in the area were placed in lock-down as a precaution but that has now been lifted. The male is possibly carrying a machete.
Police media advise the public not to approach the man carrying a machete if sighted but to contact police immediately.
A student at Grace Lutheran College said that police drove onto the oval with the dog squad earlier but have since left the area.
EARLIER 2pm: Caboolture schools, Grace Lutheran College and Tullawong State and High School have reopened following lock downs earlier today.
The schools were shut down by police following reports of a man armed with a machete in the area.
EARLIER: TWO Caboolture school areas went into lock down this morning as police searched for an armed man in the area.
Tullawong State School and Tullawong High School along with Grace Lutheran College, Caboolture Campus were sent into lock down after witnesses reported seeing a man armed with a machete on Cardnial Crt.
While Tullawong schools have since reopened Grace Lutheran is still in shut down.
Police are continuing to search for the man who was believed to have been hiding in bushland.
Dog squad and Police Air support have been deployed to assist in the search efforts.
Caboolture Police Sergeant Peter Thompson confirmed the search started following a confrontation between the man and another person.
The area around Cardinal Crt and Toohey St were cordoned off by police for a short time this morning.
