Police targeted during violence
IT WAS another shocking Friday night for the Rose City with a spate of arrests and charges handed out for various offences - including assaulting and obstructing police.
Warwick police Senior Constable Matthew Pike said police were called to a disturbance in Oak Ave where a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old male were arrested and charged with public nuisance and obstructing police.
"While (police) were there speaking to a group of youths a fight has broken out between two males," he said.
"Officers have arrested one of the males and while they were in the process of arresting that fellow, a third male has (allegedly) grabbed a police officer and was subsequently arrested."
He said the men would appear in the Warwick Magistrates Court.
Only hours later police were called to a disturbance near the intersection of Albion and King Sts.
"As a result of that disturbance one male was charged for assaulting police - an 18-year-old male," Snr Const Pike said.
"One 16-year-old female was charged with public nuisance, assaulting police and obstructing police.
"And a 20-year-old female was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage and two charges of obstructing police."
Police are yet to charge another juvenile male in relation to the incident at the weekend.
Senior Constable Pike said the 18-year-old male and 20-year-old female would face Warwick Magistrates Court while the 16-year-old female would front Warwick Children's Court in the coming weeks.
