Police search finds body of missing Ipswich man
POLICE found the body of missing man Anthony Williams only a few hundred metres from his Eastern Heights home yesterday.
His body was found approximately 400m from where police had set up a command post to search the former grounds of the Bremer High School on Grange Rd.
Mr Williams was last seen in his home at 3.30am on Monday.
The 64-year-old was receiving treatment for cancer and his family became concerned after he went missing.
He was due to receive medical treatment this week.
Emergency services resumed the search at 6.30am with 20 Ipswich SES volunteers continuing to scour bushland until his body was found at 2pm.
Ipswich District Inspector Keith McDonald said Mr Williams' family was very upset
There were no suspicious circumstances, Insp McDonald said.
"As you would imagine, the family are very distraught," he said.
Insp McDonald said police would review the searching techniques used during the search.
He thanked members of the SES for their time and efforts.
He said members of the public had come forward with information leading to lines of inquiry as emergency services were searching for Mr Williams.
"The public have been very proactive for us," he said.
"We have had some contact with the public and we are running out some inquiries.
"For the SES, they are volunteering their time and this is good training for them.
"But they are also cognisant that they are looking for someone's loved one and they want to say they have found him or her."
