Police say 'selfie' caused single-vehicle crash
POLICE have issued an infringement notice to a woman they say had just taken a 'selfie' on her mobile phone when she crashed her vehicle outside Kumbia.
The 24-year-old lost control of the vehicle on the Bunya Hwy at 6.30am.
Kingaroy Police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said police alleged she used her phone while driving.
"The phone was located in the vehicle by police. Phone checks revealed a selfie had just been taken," Snr Sgt Frank said.
The woman was taken to Kingaroy Hospital with head injuries.
She was issued a notice for failing to have proper control of the vehicle.
Snr Sgt Frank said the crash highlighted the dangers of using mobile phones while driving.
There have been 186 fatalities on Queensland roads this year.
