Police hunt for hold-up suspects

ADRENALINE was running and hearts were pumping at the Matilda Roadhouse when a terrifying incident occurred yesterday.

At around 1.30pm police attempted to speak to the occupants of a blue sedan at the service station on the New England Hwy.

The offending sedan, believed to be a blue 1997-1999 VT Holden Commodore with Queensland registration 197 SCI, then drove into three cars before heading to Brisbane - one was a police vehicle and another was believed to have been the roadhouse owner's BMW.

In an attempt to restrain the driver, a female officer sustained soft tissue injuries to her right arm that was treated at the Warwick Hospital and she was later released.

Warwick Police acting Snr Sgt Des Canning said the two occupants were known to police.

"The allegation is they are high reputation offenders in relation to stealing fuel and shop items from service stations - from Allora Freedom Service Station yesterday morning and last week. The male has no fixed place of abode and the female is believed to be from a Yamanto address."
