Pink Ladies snatch final victory

Netball: In a nail-biting match the Pink Ladies took home the trophy after facing off with long time rivals the Devils on Tuesday night.

The two teams were neck and neck through to the final quarter where the Pink Ladies took control of the ball giving them a winning score of 29-25.

Pink Ladies' captain Bernadette Brunckhorst said she was proud of how her team played during the game.

"It was a tough game,” Brunckhorst said.

"It's probably the closest one we've had for a while.

"The whole season the A grade has been really strong, the top four teams have been really really close.

"It's been a good season to play.”

Brunckhorst highlighted the play of their goal shooter, but credited their win to working as a team.

Devil's captain Chrissy Mattiazzi said it was great to play such a tight game.

"It's a great rivalry,” she said.

"We always play against them in the finals and we love playing them because it's a really good competitive game.

"It was a very close game the whole way, just that last quarter they got away just a little bit.”

With a few players out with injuries, Mattiazzi said she was still proud of how they performed all season.

"We played together for a lot of years so it's good fun. Everyone played really well as a team.”

This season saw three new teams join the A Grade, with many planning to sign up again next year.

A Grade netball will return in February.
