Petrol for under a dollar? You're mad, Katter!

PETROL at under 90 cents a litre by rejuvenating old cane farms to produce ethanol is one of Bob Katter's promises to the Sunshine Coast.

Speaking at a disused cane farm along Yandina- Coolum Road, the hat-wearing leader of Katter's Australian Party launched his party policies for the region.

Mr Katter said the Sunshine Coast had been "ignored" by the LNP for "two decades" and if his party was elected it would rebuild the sugar mills to produce ethanol to be used as petrol

"Almost every country in the world uses ethanol except for the oil-producing countries, Australia and Africa," Mr Katter said.

"We have one of the highest car count highways in Australia here

"So we have the cars there to take the ethanol and we can deliver to the motorists of the Sunshine Coast petrol under 90 cents a litre".
