LATEST: Police divers have found a body at Aqua Lake, near Collingwood Park during an extensive search for a missing swimmer. 

The body was found shortly after 11am. 

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

 

Police resume search for missing swimmer

UPDATE 10AM: Police will continue their search at a property near Ipswich this morning after a man vanished while swimming in a water-filled quarry.

The man disappeared while crossing Aqua Lake with a friend at Collingwood Park at about 4.45pm yesterday.

Specialist deep water divers spent last night searching the water and the surrounding area but were unable to locate the 21-year-old.

The man's disappearance has prompted calls from Ipswich Deputy Mayor Paul Tully for the quarry to be filled in.

This latest incident is the second at the mine this year after 16-year-old Duncan Wilmott drowned in January.

Man missing in lake, feared drowned

UPDATE 6PM: Emergency services including the SES are searching the lake and surrounding area for a man in his 20s who disappeared while swimming.

Specialist Search and Rescue Mission Coordinators are on the way to the lake at Collingwood Park to assist. 

If the initial search is unsuccessful the specialist team will decide on how to proceed and whether the search continue into the night.

UPDATE: Water police are on the way from Scarborough to Collingwood Park to join the search for a missing person, feared drowned. 

The search and rescue was organised after a call for help was made to Queensland Ambulance about 4.40pm.

It is believed two friends were swimming across Aqua Lake when they became tired. 

Reports suggest one, a man in his early 20s, disappeared under the water. 

Police, paramedics and the Swift Water Rescue Team from the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service have arrived on the scene.  

EARLIER 5PM: Paramedics and police have rushed to a lake near Collingwood Park, where a person is missing and feared drowned.

The call for help came through to Queensland Ambulance about 4.40pm.

The location of the incident is in the vicinity of Okelly Ct.

One ambulance crew is on scene and police are arriving.
