6km gridlock: Bruce Hwy mayhem after peak hour crash

UPDATE: Peak hour traffic has banked more than 6km, spanning the Bruce Hwy and Sunshine Mwy after a two-vehicle highway crash. 

Paramedics reported none of the people involved in the crash required transport to hospital, and ambulance crews have cleared the scene.

Traffic is now banking along the westbound lanes of the Sunshine Mwy as traffic queues to enter the highway. 


UPDATE: A two-vehicle crash on the Bruce Hwy has left a growing highway gridlock as peak hour traffic grinds to a halt. 

Paramedics have arrived at the scene of the crash just north of the Caloundra Rd interchange, in the southbound lanes. 

The crash was reported at 7.48am. 

All occupants in the crash are out of their vehicles, and paramedics are still assessing patients.

The banked traffic now spans about 5km, with the highway heavily affected in the southbound lanes as far away as the Sunshine Mwy interchange.

BREAKING: Traffic is already mounting on the Bruce Hwy after a crash during peak hour.

Just minutes after the collision north of the Caloundra Rd interchange, traffic had already banked in the southbound lanes almost 2km, back past Aussie World.

Commuters have reported the banked traffic is barely moving. 

Emergency crews are arriving on scene.
