Partnership pays dividends for local clubs

GOLF: A long-standing partnership between the Stanthorpe Golf Club and Stanthorpe Junior Rugby League is proving beneficial to both yet again.

Courtesy of a bumper Boxing Day Classic, the golf club has been able to donate nearly $3000 to the Gremlins.

"So this is proceeds from the Boxing Day Classic that is run in conjunction with Stanthorpe Golf Club and Stanthorpe Junior Rugby League,” Stephen Kay from the golf club said.

"It's been sponsored by Wes Smith, Tony Herman and Michael Hancock. We're very grateful to their sponsorship because it's a great thing for both clubs.

"The golf club is really grateful for our partnership with junior rugby league.

"We're happy to hand over the share of the proceeds from the fundraiser and wish them all the best for their upcoming season,” Mr Kay said.

Junior Rugby League president Lindsay Adams said funding such as this, was of huge benefit to the club going forward.

"First and foremost we really appreciate the partnership. We really do appreciate what those three guys do. The prizes they pull out of the bag are incredible,” Mr Adams said.

"A lot of these proceeds come from an auction of stuff they've provided.”

The Gremlins have seen a shake-up in the off-season, which has led to some additional costs. Mr Adams said they would utilise some of the donation to help in paying for those changes.

"So this year we've got a couple things happening.

"Our senior team is playing in the TRL so that comes with some extra cost,” Mr Adams said.

"We're also starting in pushing an under 18's comp to start get footy back alive again.

"The money will go to helping with those two things,” Mr Adams said.
