Owens in new role boots 'n' all

NICK Owens has hung up his rugby league boots for good after a decade of club footy with the Warwick Cowboys and hopes they'll stay on the wall.

This season he is A-grade manager under coach Gary Lawrence. If he doesn't pull on the boots this season it will mean the Cowboys have plenty of players in A and reserve-grades.

"I wouldn't let the Cowboys run out in reserve-grade short of players," Owens said.

"The way it is looking at the moment in all three grades, I reckon we will be strong and I will leave my footy boots at home for good."

While official training doesn't start until tomorrow at Father Ranger Oval at 6pm, Owens said 20 were at training on Tuesday at an unofficial fitness session under under-18 coach Ryan Kinlyside.

Prospective players are welcome at training tomorrow night or call Owens on 0427 274 724 .
