NSW ministers Ian Macdonald, Eddie Obeid to be prosecuted

FORMER New South Wales mining minister Ian Macdonald is facing two charges of misconduct in public office, after state prosecutors took action over a corruption inquiry.

Mr Macdonald's conduct was investigated by the Independent Commission Against Corruption over the Doyles Creek mining licence granted without a competitive tender.

The ICAC had recommended Mr Macdonald and then Doyles Creek Mining chairman John Maitland be charged.

Mr Macdonald and Mr Maitland have previously maintained their innocence.
