’Nasty piece of work’: Djoker’s almighty meltdown

RAGING Novak Djokovic flung one racquet into the crowd and smashed another during a huge on-court meltdown at the Monte Carlo Masters.

The world No.1 could not contain his anger after being broken by Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Djokovic was booed by fans when he broke his racquet during the first outburst of anger.

He was leading by a set and serving at 2-3 when forced to save two break points.

But on the third break chance for Kohlschreiber, the Serbian put his backhand volley wide to gift the break to his opponent.

It was then that Djokovic saw red, prompting commentator Mark Petchey to say: "When he does break it, he breaks it with venom and passion."

Djokovic was lucky to avoid a point penalty for flinging his racket into fans.

The four-time Wimbledon champ's latest display of anger was similar to his outburst at Indian Wells last month.

Then, Djokovic launched his racquet at the back fence so hard that it left a hole in it.

There was light at the end of the tunnel this time, however, as he advanced to the third round of the Monte Carlo Masters after overcoming Kohlschreiber 6-3 4-6 6-4.
