A beaten Nick Kyrgios says he didn't tank game
ANOTHER day, another Nick Kyrgios controversy - this time accused of tanking in his 7-5 6-1 6-7 7-6 defeat by Frenchman Richard Gasquet in the fourth round at Wimbledon.
The 20-year-old (pictured embracing a ball boy) appeared not to be trying in the third game of the second set but denied he let Gasquet have the game on purpose.
"Of course I tried," he said. "There was a lot of ups and downs. It was a tough, tough time, especially when he's not missing any balls."
Home-crowd favourite Andy Murray is into the quarter-finals with a 7-6 6-4 5-7 6-4 win over Ivo Karlovic to set up a clash with Canada's Vasek Pospisil.
Roger Federer is also through, defeating Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut 6-2 6-2 6-3, while Novak Djokovic was two sets all with Kevin Anderson when bad light stopped play in their match.
In the women's draw Serena Williams beat sister Venus 6-4 6-3.
