NiE Eclipse of the Sun
One of the most awesome spectacles in the sky is when an eerie twilight descends on Earth as the Sun's bright face is replaced by the black disk of the Moon surrounded by a beautiful halo of light.
This is an eclipse of the sun that occurs when the moon revolving in its orbit comes between the sun and the earth. The moon blocks the light of the sun and casts a shadow over our planet. The moon's shadow has two parts: a central region (umbra) and an outer region (penumbra). Depending upon which part of the shadow passes over you as well as other factors, you will see one of four types of solar eclipses: total, annular, partial or hybrid.
