Police use Nickelback album to threaten drink drivers

IF YOU drink drive in this Canadian town, you will be caught, fined, charged and you'll lose your licence.

But what's worse - they're going to make you listen to Nickelback.

Police from Kensington on Canada's Prince Edward Island are vowing to compound their usual punishments with a dose of Chad Kroeger's voice, in an effort to crack down on boozy drivers.

"When we catch you, and we will catch you, on top of a hefty fine, a criminal charge and a year's driving suspension, we will also provide you with a bonus gift of playing the office's copy of Nickelback in the cruiser on the way to jail," police wrote in a now-viral post.

"We figure if you are foolish enough to get behind the wheel after drinking, then a little Chad Kroeger and the boys is the perfect gift for you.

"Let's not ruin a perfectly good unopened copy of Nickelback." they added, posting an image of an unopened copy of Nickelback's Silver Side Up album.

The breakthrough LP from Nickelback includes the hilariously maligned How You Remind Me.

"You don't drink and drive, and we won't make you listen to it."
