Newborn twins find solace

IT was a sight to melt even the coldest of hearts; two newborn twins cuddled together, holding hands.

On Christmas Eve, Warwick's Brooke Chapman gave birth to her first children in the Mater Mothers Hospital, Brisbane.

Elijah Ryan Daly was born at 11.09pm and sister Abigail Imogen Daly a minute later.

The twins were transferred to Toowoomba General Hospital on January 3 and arrived at Warwick Hospital this week.

Ms Chapman and partner Kevin Daly were as proud as punch to welcome their babies into the world. Ms Chapman said the siblings were already the best of friends.

"They cuddled all the way from Brisbane to Toowoomba, didn't even separate once," she said.

"Sometimes they punch each other in the face and pull out each others tubes."

The pair were born at 33 weeks, Abigail weighed 1.42kgs and Elijah 1.96kgs, but both are healthy and doing well.

Akooramak residents knitted beanies and booties for the twins.
