Former FCO managers launch tourism business

TWO former managers at Fraser Coast Opportunities have banded together to launch their own tourism consultancy business in Hervey Bay.

Former FCO tourism manager Robbie Cornelius and former marketing manager Danielle Andreuzzi have formed DR Tourism.

Speaking to the Chronicle at Enzo's on the Beach, one of DR Tourism's first clients, Mr Cornelius is excited by the new venture.

"I've always wanted to work for myself and I've always been involved in tourism," he said.

"It was just a natural fit for me to move into something more tourism orientated."

Mr Cornelius and Ms Andreuzzi are familiar with each other.

Both worked at Tourism Fraser Coast before it became Fraser Coast Opportunities.

Both confirmed they left the embattled organisation late last year to start DR Tourism.

Mr Cornelius insisted his new business and FCO would not compete.

"FCO is tasked with promoting the destination and the region as a whole," he said.

"We offer a more specific service.

"The priority is on the individual operator rather than the entire destination as a whole."

With a strong client base in Hervey Bay and work beginning in Melbourne "so far so good", Mr Cornelius said.

"One step at a time for us at this stage," he said.

Ask him if he thinks FCO can survive and he replies "I certainly hope so".

"FCO has done some good stuff," he said.

"Unfortunately those sort of decisions are out of my hands at this stage."
