New principal no stranger to region
PAUL O'Mara has claimed the headmaster's chair at Glennie Heights State Primary School, but this particular "newbie" is no stranger to the school system - or to the Warwick area.
Growing up on the Southern Downs, Mr O'Mara travelled across the globe in his profession, but will step into his 15th year as a principal in his home town.
He said he could not wait to seize the challenge and said it was about preparing kids for life - not just academically.
"Life will throw things at you, so it's also about learning to pick yourself up when it does," Mr O'Mara said.
"Our emphasis is to give kids a balanced education - school means different things to different people.
"Our motto is 'aim for the highest', so that's where we're going."
