New features a sure hit

THE annual NAB Mercantile Golf Day will be held at the Warwick Golf Club this Sunday and with a newly crowned captain at the helm, it is sure to contain a few surprises.

The four ball ambrose format will be the flavour of the game, where teams of four will work together to get through the 18 holes.

Teams must consist of only one single-figure handicap player and at least one non-golfer.

Co-organiser and former NAB employee Judy Lester, who has been involved with the club for nearly 20 years, said it will be a fun day for all.

"It's a fun day to encourage people to play and participate," Lester said.

New captain of the golf club Adrian Murphy said a number of new concepts were on the cards for the club, and this year's golf day was no exception.

"There are a lot of new concepts on the cards and one is the NAB Big Bank Bash," Murphy said.

"It's a round robin competition where one player from each team is nominated to compete in a long-drive competition."

Murphy said it will be held towards the end of the day, when scores are being tallied, to keep players entertained.

NAB agribusiness manager Paul Swift said the new element of the day will be a hit among the players.

"You don't need to be a good golfer to be a good hitter," Swift said.

Around 50 to 60 players are currently registered but everyone is encouraged to get their nomination forms in and have a go.

All ages are welcome and teams will not be separated into age groups, so the whole family can enjoy a taste of the sport.

NAB has donated over $1000 worth of prizes including vouchers for the pro shop, meat and NAB merchandise.

The day hits off at 8am and those wanting to take part can register at the Pro Shop, or call 4661 3664.

Food will be available for purchase and registration is $60 per team.
