New board hope for ISC place

THE Western Mustangs have revamped their board in hope for a successful admission into the Intrust Super Cup competition in the near future.

The background of the board has been designed to help build the club towards satisfying all areas of the Intrust Super Cup criteria.

Country footballer and TRL representative, Tony Coonan, has specifically been chosen to be a member of the new and improved board taking on the role as the director.

Coonan is looking forward to seeing the club reach the next level, explaining the mentality behind the boards transformation.

“The idea of the new board was to get a group of people together with expertises in all different areas,” Coonan said.

“We have both an 18’s and 20’s side in the state wide comp and we just want to step it up.”

The Western Mustangs goal is to set up a pathway for players to play through the 18’s, 20’s and Intrust Super Cup competition before eventuating into the NRL.

“In the past the best of our players leave town so early. We want to set up a pathway so players can stay in our region for as long as possible before they move onto the NRL,” said Coonan.

Coonan, along with nine other board members will be working towards their end goal of having an Intrust Super Cup team at the Western Mustangs.

“We are the only region in Queensland without an Intrust Super Cup team.”

“I am very supportive of the Mustangs getting a place in the competition,” Coonan added.
