DEPARTMENT store chain Myer and Commonwealth Bank have inked a credit-card rewards deal, as competition for customer loyalty escalates in a subdued retail market.
From November 23, Commonwealth Bank awards credit-card customers can redeem points instantly at Myer.
The announcement follows David Jones's tie-up with Qantas which gives the high-end department store's branded American Express card members Qantas frequent-flyer points in exchange for spending.
All of Australia's major retailers are expanding their loyalty-card programs and card offerings to win more business in a weaker spending environment.
At the same time, they are trying to learn more about their customers' shopping habits, collecting information that can be used to market to them across online channels and mobile devices.
