LIVING on a farm for much of her life forced Jennette McCosker to salvage and utilise every product tucked away in her pantry, as well as draw on creative alternatives to make recipes work.
And her inventive attitude rubbed off on daughter Kim McCosker, who later created dishes from limited ingredients, which proved a recipe to success.
“We lived on a citrus farm at Mundubbera and you just have to make do with what you have,” Jennette said. “You just take what’s in the cupboard, use your brain, try things and make it work.”
Kim is one of the authors of the best-selling 4 Ingredients cookbooks and mum Jennette yesterday made a special appearance in Bi-Lo to share her kitchen tips with shoppers.
The 4 Ingredients cookbooks feature recipes made with up to four ingredients. They have been hugely successful, taking off in the United Kingdom and New Zealand and next month Kim and Jennette will travel to the United States to try to break the market there.
Jennette said they were a simple and affordable option for those wanting to save money on their grocery bills.
“If you can put a meal on the table using only four ingredients, that’s a great money saver.”
