MOVE OVER, RUDOLPH: Equestrian group to deliver gifts
ON THE afternoon before Christmas a special delivery service will be trotting around Nanango.
Harness ponies Harry, Stunner, Pocket Rocket and their friends from the South Burnett Equestrian Group have been trying out their Christmas outfits ahead of the Christmas present delivery day.
Event organiser Corby Cunnington said Santa's helpers would be heading out on four carriages.
"When people are settling in for the night they can have a look at us trotting around with the elves and Santa," Ms Cunnington said.
Families can pay $20 to get presents delivered to their house.
But it is not just the kids who will enjoy a gift delivered by pony and carriage, as the group will make special stops at Karinya Aged Care Centre and the Nanango Hospital.
The delivery run will not just be a novelty service for families, but also an opportunity to help others in need.
The group asks those who work with people in the Nanango area to nominate anyone in need, or without loved ones this Christmas.
"We want to deliver to the less fortunate," Ms Cunnington said.
Community members can help out by donating items or wrapped gifts for the delivery run.
"We're also looking for businesses who might be interested in adding to our parcels," Ms Cunnington said.
Nanango residents are encouraged to keep an eye out for the ponies doing the deliveries.
"When we take the ponies around town, I think its really good for the community," Ms Cunnington said.
The delivery will also be a fundraiser for the group's come and try carriage driving days for people with disabilities.
The gift delivery run will start at 4.30pm on Christmas Eve in the main town area of Nanango.
Presents should be no more than 20cm x 20cm x 20cm and can be delivered to your door for $20 per delivery of up to four presents.
Presents with addresses clearly marked can be dropped off at Nanango Real Estate right up until lunchtime on Christmas Eve.
