Two dead after steel pipe ploughs through BMW

TRAFFIC on the Bruce Highway remains disrupted as emergency services continue to clear the scene of a horrific two vehicle car accident.

A steel pipe weighing approximately two and a half tonnes fell off the back of a truck travelling in a south bound direction.

The pipe ploughed through the windscreen of a BMW sedan, killing the two occupants instantly.

The sedan then caught alight, leaving a scene of devastation just north of Huts Creek.

Traffic was severely disrupted in both directions for the duration of the morning, with diversions taking place on Gentle Annie Rd.

Motorists faced wait times of up to two hours.
