Men's hostel benefits

A GENEROUS donation from Tourism and Events will help update electrical goods in a local men's hostel.

Tracy Vellacott, from Tourism and Events, yesterday presented Toni Park, program co-ordinator of the St Vincent De Paul CornerStone program, with a cheque for $545.35.

The money was raised in a tin donation at the Carols at the Park on Sunday.

"Shona and I walked around the park on Sunday asking for donations for the wonderful cause," Mrs Vellacott said.

"There were some very generous people at the carols on Sunday night.

"The CornerStone program have missed out on a few charitable donations over the years, so this time, we were able to give something back," she said.

The St Vincent De Paul CornerStone program finds homes for people who are less fortunate. "We have room for seven men in the hostel and it will be fantastic to get them some new things this close to Christmas," Ms Park said.

"I am extremely grateful for everyone's donations."
