Man, 55, dies in Federal head-on crash, bike catches fire

UPDATE: Police have confirmed a 55-year-old Federal man had died in a head-on collision with a car on Middle Creek Rd, Federal, yesterday afternoon.

The crash took place at about 5.30pm, and emergency services responding to the incident worked to revive the man, who was pronounced dead on the scene.  

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue Helicopter was called to the scene, but not required, as fire crews also worked to extinguish the motorbike, which caught alight following the crash.  

Traffic delays were expected to remain for some time, as forensic crash officers processed the scene.  

EARLIER: EMERGENCY services are currently trying to resuscitate a motorcyclist involved in a crash with a car on Middle Creek Road at Federal this evening.

The crash took place at about 5.30pm this afternoon, with police and fire crews working on resuscitating the rider, after firies were required to extinguish a small fire that started as a result of the crash.

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue chopper has landed on the scene, preparing to airlift the rider, believed to be a man in his 30s, to hospital.

Police Media said they expected road closures to be in place for some time, as scenes of crime officers attended the scene.
