Mauboy takes top award at indigenous music awards

POP singer Jessica Mauboy has walked away with the top prize at this year's National Indigenous Music Awards.

The 24-year-old was awarded the National Artist of the Year accolade in front of a crowd of hundreds at a ceremony at Darwin's Botanic Gardens.

In a recorded video message she said she was thrilled to receive the honour.

"To all the voters to everyone who supported me, thank you so very much and big love to you," she said.
