Man pleads guilty to hit-and-run on eve of trial

AN IPSWICH man has been remanded in custody after admitting his involvement in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Brisbane more than two years ago.

Mark Richard Harley Sweet, from Redbank Plains, pleaded guilty on the eve of his trial on Monday in Brisbane District Court to dangerous driving causing death.

Victim Timothy John Wall, 43, died in hospital after the crash on Old Cleveland Rd at Coorparoo, just south of the Brisbane River, in October 2010.

Sweet was supposed to be sentenced on Tuesday morning but his psychologist was unable to get the report to the court in time.

His family watched from the courtroom as he was led into custody.

Sweet will now be sentenced on Thursday.
