Man charged with murder of four-month-old baby

A MAN has been charged with murder two years after the suspicious death of Maryborough baby. 

Police said about 9.20pm on September 1, 2013, paramedics were called to a Jupiter St residence after a four-month-old infant was unresponsive.

The boy was taken to Maryborough Hospital but later died.

Detectives from the Maryborough Child Protection Investigation Unit and the State Crime Command Child Trauma Taskforce treated the death as suspicious.

An investigation spanning two years led to the arrest on Wednesday morning of a 22-year-old Kelso man. 

He is charged with one count of murder and failure to supply necessaries of life. 

He is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon.
