Man charged with attempted murder after Sunnybank incident

A 31-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident that occurred in Sunnybank on Thursday morning.

Police were called to an address on Dixon Street around 6am following reports that a woman had been assaulted.

It will be alleged the man stabbed a 23-year-old woman, known to the man, a number of times. The woman had stab wounds to her chest and the back of her neck and was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but non-life threatening condition.

The 31-year-old man was also treated for stab wounds and taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The man was charged with one count each of attempted murder, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and wounding. He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
