Major crash investigators called in for Eyre Peninsula fatal

MAJOR Crash Investigators have flown to the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia  following a fatal crash near Yalata yesterday afternoon.

At about 4.30pm, a four wheel drive towing a caravan collided with a B-double truck on the Eyre Hwy about 50km west of Yalata.

The driver of the four-wheel drive a 70-year-old man from Hackham died at the scene, while a passenger a 68-year-old woman also from Hackham was airlifted to Adelaide with serious injuries.

The driver of the road train was not injured in the crash.

Major Crash Investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The Eyre Highway has partially reopened one lane for traffic - please slow down if driving in the area.

The SA road toll now stands at 53 compared to 64 at the same time last year.
