Stanthorpe police kept busy

A FEMALE driver will hopefully think twice before reaching to pick up something off the floor of her car while driving after being involved in a single vehicle roll-over along the New England Highway last Friday.

Stanthorpe Police officer in charge Mark Ireland said she was lucky to escape injury after losing control and rolling her car near the intersection of Recka Lane and the New England Highway.

A 47-year-old man from The Summit will front the Stanthorpe Magistrates court later this month charged with indecently dealing with a child. It is alleged the incident took place on September 6.

Two people were charged with drug offences during the past week.

On Thursday morning police stopped a Holden Sedan travelling at speed on Texas Road, Broadwater.

Police located a smoking utensil in the console of the vehicle used for smoking cannabis, resulting in the 23-year-old man being charged. At about 8.30pm that night police intercepted a vehicle for a traffic offence on Folkestone Street, locating about 350 marijuana seeds in the vehicle.

The 22-year-old driver was charged with possessing dangerous drugs.
