Little Mia in time for Australia Day

JESSIE Parry and Carissa Stephens had extra reason to celebrate Australia Day yesterday.

While others were enjoying beers, barbecues and the outdoors, the Warwick couple were getting used to their new title as first-time parents, and spent time bonding with their beautiful baby girl, born the day before.

Unknowingly, Jessie and Carissa had chosen a specifically Aussie name for their daughter, Mia, also known as the acronym for Made in Australia.

When asked whether the naming for Warwick's newest Aussie had been done intentionally, Carissa laughed and said it wasn't.

"I didn't even know it stood for that," she said.

"We just thought it was a nice name."

Mia Angel Parry was born via C-section at Warwick Hospital on January 25 at 9.15am.

She weighed 3.23kg and measured 50cm at birth.

The pair said yesterday they were looking forward to spending the rest of Australia Day with their new daughter, and would take her for her first bath.
