Lion faces another extended period on sidelines
YOUNG Brisbane Lions forward Jono Freeman will consult a specialist tomorrow about an ankle injury suffered while standing on someone's foot at training last week.
After already being sidelined throughout the start of the season with a glute problem, the 21-year-old Noosa product could be out for another two months.
Freeman had been close to a return in the NEAFL before this latest setback.
"Jono hurt himself at training so it's about eight weeks out," Lions coach Justin Leppitsch said.
"He might be back for about a month or six weeks toward the end of the year hopefully.
"It is a bit sad that with 'Closey' (fellow tall forward Michael Close) going down we can't get more hours into those boys, but they'll still mature - they'll be 21-year-olds next year so they'll be a bit stronger to compete.
"That's OK, you've got to ride the bumps."
Freeman played the last four games of last season.
